Bus unand mengalami kecelakaan Tunggal di sekitaran Gerbang Unand pada Jumat petang sekitar pukul 18:15 WIB ( 12 Februari 2016 ) Bus tersebut melaju dengan kecepatan sedang dari arah Universitas Andalas menuju Pasar Baru saat mengantar puluhan mahasiswa Universitas Andalas, bus tersebut tidak dapat menahan laju kendaraannya karena Rem yang blong dan tidak berfungsi sama sekali, medan yang dilalui juga menurun juga menjadi penyebab utama kecelakaan ini. Kecelakaan tunggal ini menyebabkan bus terguling dan jatuh ke dekat pemukiman warga yang berada tepat di bawah jalanan.
Akibat kecelakaan Bus Unand ini puluhan mahasiswa dan supir bus mengalami luka. Para korban saat ini telah dievakuasi ke RSUP M Djamil dan RS Semen Padang. Sampai saat berita ini diturunkan, belum dapat dipastikan berapa keseluruhan jumlah korban
